Giving FAQ's
How is the recession affecting NGU students and the university? NGU students need increasing amounts of financial assistance as more and more families are impacted by the recession. The university is controlling operating costs and limiting expenses throughout the organization. Every effort is being made to insulate the student experience from these cuts so that the quality of the NGU education is not diminished. Doesn’t NGU have plenty of money? In a normal year, NGU relies on alumni, parents, and friends to provide millions of dollars needed for scholarships and tuition assistance. This academic year has been far from normal, and the recession has made financial aid and support for the budget even more critical. Why should I give to NGU? NGU alumni have always underwritten part of the cost of the North Greenville experience. If you attended NGU, you directly benefited from the generosity of others, even if you didn’t have an outright scholarship or grant. Tuition for all students would be even higher without alumni giving, including the tuition you or your family paid when you were a student. It’s time to give back, just a bit. How does NGU spend the money given to the Annual Fund? Annual Fund gifts help fund scholarships and aid for the 80% of NGU students who receive some assistance. Gifts also support undergraduate research, technology, and budget needs unmet by tuition. How does my small gift really matter? Strong alumni participation helps NGU compete for grants. In addition to the benefit of the dollars provided by ordinary donors, high participation makes NGU an attractive philanthropic cause for foundations and corporations. Are my gifts to NGU tax deductible? Yes! All gifts to North Greenville University are tax deductible.
